Sir Edric's Temple is out now!

After a surprisingly long formatting proces (seriously, it took me about 5 hours checking all the italics repeatedly), Sir Edric's Temple is now out.

It's a 37,000 word or so comedy, filled with the misadventures of Sir Edric Greenlock, the least heroic man in all of fantasy.

At the minute it's out on Smashwords, and I'm hoping it'll be up on Amazon tomorrow (the 800lb gorilla of book retail online takes a little while to process a new book).

The Proofread is Done

Huzzah!

Yes, the proofread is done. I still have some more work to do, not least fiddling about with banners.

It's still my intention and hope to get this out near the end of this month, but if it is delayed I think any postponement should be slight (assuming there are no technical problems).

After Sir Edric's Temple is out I'm going to focus on nailing the chapter-by-chapter outline of Kingdom Asunder (set in the Bane of Souls/Journey to Altmortis world). I keep changing my mind about whether to kill a certain character or not.

As with Journey to Altmortis, I plan on offering a code for Smashwords, so people following me (here, or on Twitter) can get a lower price for the first week of release (the standard price will be $2.99).

The electronic release (Smashwords and Amazon) will be done first. I'm not sure how much longer the physical version (Lulu) will take, or what the price will be. I'll endeavour to keep the price low.

If all goes well, this'll mean three books (two novels and, er, whatever the technical term for a 36,000 word or so comedy is) out in about a year and a half. Quite pleased with that, though I imagine Kingdom Asunder will take rather longer.

New review and the Proofread of Doom

There's a new review out for Journey to Altmortis, which you can read here. It's a thumbs up, which is always nice to get.

I'm about halfway through the Proofread of Doom. I'm using the same approach I took with Journey to Altmortis, which was prolonged and dreadful but did eliminate almost every single error.

The proofread's done in two stages. Firstly, I read each chapter on my Kindle and mark up any errors. That's not too bad. Secondly, I read through the work again, as carefully as I can, whilst updating it on the computer.

That doesn't sound particularly difficult, but it takes ages, and I'm well aware that's the last stage before it gets published. So, I spend a lot of time on it, my eyes go fuzzy fairly quickly and it's easily the most difficult (in a non-creative way) part of the whole writing process. (For those interested, the most difficult creative challenge is creating plot twists, because it's easy to make them either deus ex machina or predictable, both of which are a bit rubbish).

I am hoping to get Sir Edric's Temple out this month but, as I'm a one-man band, I can't guarantee it. That will be for the electronic format. The physical format will be released later, but still this year (hopefully).
