How things stand, and a spot of housekeeping

I tend to reply to e-mails immediately, partly because I'm a diligent and conscientious professional, and mostly because I'm so absent-minded I once forgot the name of the second most important character a month after I released my first book.

In line with this forgetful procrastination, I've finally updated some of the nuts and bolts here (I'll do likewise on my rambly blog at thaddeusthesixth.blogspot.co.uk in the near future). I've moved all the Lore stuff (for the serious books) into a single tab, and added a new one for Free Stories (two Sir Edric mini-stories and an epic tale of when I duelled a demon, at the moment, I'll add more as they come to mind).

I've also added a bit more to the Links, including my Goodreads page (it's a good site, with plenty of reviews) and my Kraxon author page (more free stories, including the sci-fi serial Zodiac Eclipse, with one new episode each month in 2015).

I'll probably update the About the Author tab right after I finish this piece as well, now I come to think of it.

Anyway, how things stand:
Bane of Souls (serious fantasy) - released 2012
Journey to Altmortis (serious fantasy) - released 2013
Sir Edric's Temple (comedy fantasy) - released 2013, but also to be re-released traditionally later this year

Sir Edric's Treasure (comedy fantasy) - completed, hopefully released traditionally this year
Kingdom Asunder (serious fantasy) - perhaps 90-95% done, will be self-published. Hoping for this year, but not certain
Sir Edric's Kingdom (comedy fantasy) - 90% done, unlikely to be released this year

For reasons I won't bore you with there's been a bit of a drought as far as large releases go (although I will have released at least 15 short stories, almost all free, in 2015). Sir Edric's Temple was first released in October 2013. But, as you can see, I've got a reasonable amount coming down the track (about a quarter of a million words or so). I've also got a few submissions to anthologies awaiting the red or green lights.

So, after a bit of a quiet period there's three (or four, counting the re-release of Temple) large new stories coming soon. You lucky devils, you.

Unnecessarily Epic - Thaddeus and the Demon

I was ensconced in intellectual pursuit when my trusty hound alerted me to the intruder. Switching off Supermodels of SHIELD, I at once focused all my attention upon the monstrous demon that had dared invade the sanctity of Castle White.

It was the vilest creature ever to disturb my vision. Eight hairy legs propelled it with preternatural haste, yet total silence. Obsidian orbs glinting with evil studded its twitching head.

The hound, whose virtues do not necessarily include courage, stared in shocked confusion at the horrendous creature approaching us, and then retreated with a low growl.

My heart thundered in my chest, adrenaline gushing through my veins. It is at times of such intractable peril that it is revealed whether one is a man or a mouse.

I fled to the kitchen.

Once there, I seized the newspaper and returned to the defiled sanctity of my solar to confront the hellish demon. It seemed to have grown during my brief absence, swollen with wickedness and terror.

But I am a man. And, what's more, a Yorkshireman at that. It takes more than a bowel-emptying nightmare from the ninth circle of Hell to drive me from my own castle. I advanced towards the octopedal beast and lashed out with my mighty weapon.

My demonic foe's swiftness evaded the strike, and, for a panic-stricken moment, I was unsure whence it had gone. Frenzied searching revealed it, and I struck a second time. Fortune smiled upon my heroic endeavour, and I pulverised the intruder.

Such an unholy creation was unworthy of civilised burial, so I disposed of the fiend in the bin. The hound returned, tail
wagging in celebratory congratulation, and there was much rejoicing.

    About Me
    I've always loved reading
and writing, particularly fantasy and classical history. I'm also quite into F1 and politics and have no idea why this section is double-spaced.
