I am the Minister for Ghosts and I bring you twenty two tales of malevolence, distilled into an impure essence, reeking of wrongdoing, and ready to escape from these pages into your mind. Published authors and newcomers are channelled by me in the laboratory of ill-intent, all with one disturbing aim: to bring forth malevolence in all its forms. Don't read this book late at night. Prey: Seven Tales of Beastly Terror is an anthology of horror stories put together by seven authors from all over the world. Each story has an animal theme, and all proceeds go to animal charity (WWF). For those with a sympathetic bent towards the creatures we inhabit this planet with, imagine with glee the prospect of their asserting themselves in a supernatural capacity. As in life, not all the animals win out in the fictions contained within these short stories, but none go quietly, either. As can be expected from a collection of yarns penned by authors from around the world, their settings are also global: the outreaches of steamy Thailand, the forbidding forests of Pennsylvania, the myriad islands of the Andaman Sea, the windswept plains of Texas, the wide reaches of Australia, the cold spaces of London, and the dark backwoods of an unnamed location. All contributors’ proceeds go to the World Wildlife Fund, in the hope that horror will one day only be found in the pages of fiction, rather than in reality where animals and their habitats are decimated, and many end up on the brink of extinction. It includes my own short horror story: Project Phoenix Buy it at Amazon (UK) Buy it at Amazon (US) |
